Bihar’s Munger police department is currently in the process of locating a 25-year-old constable who has been unaccounted for since September 4, as confirmed by a senior police official on Friday.

This constable, known as Rahul Kumar, hails from Rambagh locality in Purnea district and was assigned to the riot control police in Munger. This posting marked his initial placement following his recruitment in 2021.

According to Munger’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Jagnatharaddi Jalaraddi, Rahul Kumar left his service revolver and motorcycle in the riot control police’s barracks before his disappearance. An FIR has been filed based on statements provided by fellow constables. Ongoing investigations aim to establish the circumstances surrounding his vanishing.

Concerns intensified after the constable’s father, Ganesh Prasad, informed local journalists about his son’s disappearance and issued pleas for his safe return.

“Since he went missing, his mobile phone has remained off, which has heightened our concerns,” noted Rahul’s elder brother, Vishal. “After his phone was inactive for two days, we traveled from Purnea to the barracks, where other constables informed us that he hadn’t been seen for two days despite his service revolver, wallet, and motorcycle being left in the barracks,” expressed distressed family members.

The police department has escalated efforts to locate the missing constable, although an officer refrained from making further comments, stating, “We can’t provide any information at this time.”
