Nijjar killing row: ‘Come with clean facts’, Canadian Oppn leader Poilievre’s big advice to PM Trudeau
Canada’s opposition leader, Pierre Poilievre, took a dig at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over his allegations against India regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Poilievre urged Trudeau to provide all the facts to allow Canadians to make informed judgments.
During a press briefing, Poilievre stated, “I think the prime minister needs to come clean with all the facts. We need to know all the evidence possible so that Canadians can make judgments on that.”
He emphasized that Trudeau had not provided any additional information in private, and Canadians needed more information to assess the allegations.
Poilievre also suggested that without additional evidence, the allegations could be deemed untrue or lacking credibility. He emphasized the need for the evidence that led Trudeau to make his conclusions.
Trudeau had expelled a senior Indian diplomat, accusing Indian government agents of involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. India rejected these allegations, and in a reciprocal move, instructed a senior Canadian diplomat to leave the country. This decision was taken in response to Canada’s expulsion of an Indian official in connection with Nijjar’s death.
