India witnessed a 47% decline in solar installations, totaling 5.6 GW, during January-September 2023, primarily due to project execution delays, according to research firm Mercom India. The installations also decreased by 34% YoY in Q3 2023, reaching 1.9 GW compared to 2.8 GW in the same period in 2022. Despite this, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, installations increased by almost 6% from Q2 2023’s 1.8 GW. Utility-scale installations experienced a more significant drop, falling over 54% YoY to 4.2 GW. Challenges such as land and transmission issues, oversupply of modules in China, and uncertainties related to amended regulations contributed to the decline in installations.
