Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced the state government’s intention to explore cloud seeding technology as a means to induce precipitation during periods of low rainfall in the national capital. This proposal arose during a meeting led by Mr. Kejriwal with officials from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the Delhi Secretariat. The discussions encompassed various topics, including pollution control, infrastructure development, employment generation, skill enhancement, and environmentally friendly projects.

Kejriwal noted that cloud seeding technology has been successfully employed in countries like China and Dubai. He expressed the desire to investigate its feasibility in Delhi, particularly during the winter months. Cloud seeding technology is renowned for its ability to stimulate rainfall during dry seasons and contributes to pollution reduction.

A statement from the chief minister’s office affirmed that CII Delhi would collaborate with the Delhi government to support Kejriwal’s aspiration to make Delhi the world’s leading city.

Furthermore, responding to the CII’s proposal to lower circle rates for industrial and commercial land to encourage new industries, Kejriwal instructed Revenue Minister Atishi to work on rationalizing the circle rates.

During the meeting, the CII proposed its willingness to partner with the Delhi Government for road beautification, including the utilization of CII’s CSR funds for enhancing road aesthetics throughout the city.

The chief minister also discussed the concept of ‘green buildings’ with the industry body, which could help transform school buildings and roads into greener spaces at a minimal cost.

Kejriwal additionally expressed the Delhi government’s intention to collaborate with traders in organizing a large-scale fair, akin to the Dubai Shopping Festival, as mentioned in the statement.
