Ram Gopal Varma Responds to SS Rajamouli’s Comparison During “Animal” Promotions

SS Rajamouli praised Sandeep Reddy Vanga at the Animal promotional event in Hyderabad, highlighting his penchant for challenging cinematic norms. Rajamouli acknowledged Vanga as one of the rare directors who takes risks capable of “shaking the industry.” In doing so, he drew a parallel with Ram Gopal Varma, another director known for breaking conventions in cinema. Ram Gopal Varma, upon learning of this commendation, humorously responded on X, sharing a clip of Rajamouli’s speech and feigning surprise at being mentioned.

In the Telugu clip, Rajamouli expressed, “Directors who truly shake things up are few and far between. After Ram Gopal Varma, the only director I’ve seen do that is Sandeep Reddy Vanga. I am proud of you, brother. I am really, really proud of you.” This declaration didn’t go unnoticed by Varma, who playfully remarked on social media.

Rajamouli, during the same event, proclaimed Ranbir Kapoor as his favorite actor and even posed a playful challenge to him, asking him to choose between working with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and himself. Ranbir, in response, opted for Vanga.

Notably, Ram Gopal Varma had previously praised Rajamouli when RRR received international acclaim and awards. He shared a video of Rajamouli’s conversation with Hollywood director James Cameron at the Critics’ Choice Award, where RRR won Best Foreign Language Film.

Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, is scheduled for release on December 1 in five languages—Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

According to an official document, the Delhi University has earmarked a sum of ₹67.71 crore for the establishment of a WiFi network across its various college campuses, including an upcoming girls’ hostel in Mukherjee Nagar, northwest Delhi.

The WiFi connectivity project will cover approximately 90 colleges of the Delhi University, spanning both the north and south campuses, as well as the Dhaka Hostel complex.

Funding for this initiative will be sourced from the loan corpus of ₹938.33 crore obtained by the university from the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) in October of the previous year for various developmental endeavors.

A portion of ₹261.33 crore from this corpus has been allocated by HEFA for the implementation of the WiFi network project, along with the commencement of construction work for a building designated for the Faculty of Technology.

HEFA, a collaborative enterprise of Canara Bank and the Ministry of Education, extends financial support for the establishment of educational infrastructure and research facilities in India’s leading educational institutions.

In 2022, the Delhi University had submitted an application for a HEFA loan to address its infrastructural requirements and expansion initiatives, including the establishment of a campus in east Delhi’s Surajmal Vihar and the inauguration of a new college in Najafgarh, among other ventures.

Additionally, HEFA has granted approval for funding to five other projects, the implementation of which will commence upon the allocation of funds.

Navigating through the prevalent gender biases of the era, Malhotra chose the Madras cadre for civil services. She served in the state under the leadership of then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, C. A significant milestone in her career was the establishment of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) near Mumbai. As the chairperson during the project’s execution, Anna Rajam Malhotra played a pivotal role in steering the development of this state-of-the-art port, contributing to trade and infrastructure.

In recognition of her illustrious civil service journey, Anna Rajam Malhotra received the Padma Bhushan Award in 1989, acknowledging her exceptional contributions and commitment.

Her versatile professional trajectory included service under seven chief ministers of Tamil Nadu, showcasing adaptability and versatility. Collaborating closely with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi during the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi, she contributed to the event’s success. Furthermore, her tenure in central services made significant contributions to the personnel section of the Union Home Ministry.

After her official retirement, Malhotra continued to actively contribute, taking on roles such as the director of Hotel Leela Venture Ltd, demonstrating her prowess in diverse fields. Unfortunately, she passed away at the age of 91 at her residence in suburban Andheri, Mumbai, in 2018, leaving behind a legacy that serves as a perennial source of inspiration for generations to come.
